I've decided to start this blog, because in January 2011 I started going to quilting classes and now I'm totally hooked! I've only actually finished 1 small quilt so far but I've already got a list of things I'd like to try.
Since my new obsession has taken hold I've discovered all the amazingly beautiful and inspiring quilter blogs online and this is what has lead me to blogger and this first post! I've posted a few photos of things I've made on my facebook page but I kind of feel that friends and family think I'm either showing off or that I'm going a bit batty . . . so I've decided to take the plunge and start this blog - I want to keep a record of the things I attempt to make and to hopefully see a bit of progress as I go along.
I'm now going to attempt to upload a photo of my first quilt, we covered lots of different styles of applique in class and each heart on the quilt is an example of each of those styles. I've also made a few other wee bit's and pieces in between classes as I can't seem to keep away from my sewing machine so I'm going to add them in too.

Well I love your quilt - absolutely gorgeous and well done you for getting up and starting a blog! Doesn't it feel weird. Go and join the Brit Quilt Swap group and let everyone there know you've started a blog - they're a friendly lot and you'll pick up a few followers that way. Also there's a thread there with tips for beginner bloggers.
ReplyDeleteHello, I just started a blog too and it turns out it's not as scarey as I thought! Lynne sent me over from the Brit Quilt Swap group on flickr. Love your sprocket pillows :)
ReplyDeleteWelcome to all the fun!
ReplyDeleteHi Zoe, that is a lovely first quilt - welcome to blogging. I have found you via the Brit Swap group and you can find me at www.bluepatchquilter.blogspot.com

Well done with your blog and what a beautiful quilt I'm quite jealous.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to blogland Zoe! Your makes are gorgeous! Glad you've become a quilting addict just like the rest of us nutters! Keep going! Jxo
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha - I completely concur with your comment about friends thinking you are batty when it comes to quilting!
ReplyDeleteWelcome and I look forward to reading more of your blog as the weeks and months go by.
I've been blogging for a few years now and tend to enjoy reading other people's blogs rather than writing my own, but it is fun to keep as a record of what I've been up to. I know what you mean about getting hooked, I made my first quilt nearly four years ago and haven't looked back.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for your warm welcomes. Looking forward to coming up with something for the next post!
ReplyDeleteI just popped over from flickr. Love your first quilt, it really is lovely. Hope you have joined the Brit Quilt as you will get lots of praise if you add your photos there.
ReplyDeleteHi Zoe,
ReplyDeleteFantastic first blog. Keep it up and make me a robot. xx
Welcome to blogging which could well become just as addictive as your sewing - don't say I didn't warn you! Popped over from Brit Quilt and think your first quilt is amazing! Here's to the beginning of a beautiful obsession. Practice slowly saying - Hi my name is Zoe, and I'm a Quilter - in readiness for Quilter's Anonymous.
ReplyDeleteWow I can't believe you've only been quilting since Jan!
ReplyDeleteYou Go Girl!
That quilt is stunning.
Lovely 1st quilt!! I found you via Lily's Quilts and you can find me at SewJustineSew.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your first post and a gorgeous first quilt! (I found you via Brit quilt.) I'm also much more of a natural lurker than blogger/poster - I'm trying to leave more comments but am not sure I'll ever start a blog, I'd have to get a camera for a start as relying on my mobile becomes a pain after a while (especially as I can't seem to synch it with my P.C. so have to email everything to myself!). Good luck with your blog - you give us lurkers courage ;o)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Sorry for the long comment - it's at this point that I usually delete it and type something shorter but I'm going to resist!
